Charlie Chaplin's 48th Film Released Dec. 18 1915
Charlie Chaplin's Burlesque on Carmen was Chaplin's 13th film for Essanay Films. It was released in 1915 and then later recut into a different version in 1916. Charlie Chaplin played Dain Hosiery and Edna Purviance played Carmen. Carmen was very popular at this time and one of the reasons Chaplin decided to create his own comedy version on the opera. Theda Bara had recently played the part in a film version in 1915.

Careful with this one.
If you just need a version of this for your Chaplin collection to watch or keep, then that's fine, but do beware : this is not the Chaplin original as the Archive themselves are sadly mistakenly, ie, stating that it is Charlie's own earlier late 1915 version. This is still the more widely distributed extended 1916 version with Ben Turpin. A far as I can see, the only place online which has Chaplin's own shorter cut is Amazon Live Video, but it costs ten dollars.
